Experience and areas of specialisation
Nick joined Grope Hamilton Lawyers in May 1992 after having worked from 1988 for a large commercial law firm in the areas of commercial litigation, commercial law and insolvency.
He has been involved in a wide range of assignments including debt collection, security enforcement (including appointments of receivers, controllers, liquidators, mortgagees in possession and trustees in personal bankruptcy), professional negligence claims, preference claims, building disputes, shareholder disputes, insolvency litigation, major Trade Practices Act litigation, lease disputes and general commercial disputes in all State and Federal jurisdictions.
Recently, Nick has managed a number of his national clients' litigious matters in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane organising the affairs from our Adelaide office, saving clients the costs associated with retaining full-time interstate solicitors.
Nick has also assisted clients with transactional matters involving the sale and purchase of businesses and the structuring of suitable commercial agreements required in the day-to-day running of their businesses and general advice in all facets of the areas listed above
Nick plays social basketball and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and walking his dog. He is a proud Port Adelaide supporter and enjoys a glass of red wine whilst watching televised sport. He's also the firm's resident (good natured) smart alec.
Nick also gives his time to a number of charities and community organisations including his former chairmanship of the Cancer and Bowel Research Trust which he helped establish more than 10 years ago and now raises approximately $2 million per annum for cancer research and prevention programs throughout Australia. Other charities and community organisations he is involved with include Community Support Inc. and SA In-Home Care Inc.

"Nick is one of our resident “brainboxes” who is extremely insightful and efficient in his legal work. Nick gets to the point quickly, in both commercial and litigation matters in a very cost efficient, effective way that is evidenced by the significant repeat work Nick receives. He is also our resident “smart alec”, a trait he attributes to his late father."
